Overview

To create a fun and engaging Friendaversary video that appears in your Facebook News Feed on the anniversary of the day you became friends with someone on Facebook.

RESEARCH

Before beginning my process I looked into Facebook. I wanted to see their past friendiversary videos to make sure I can capture the feelings their past friendiversary videos give their viewers.

STORYBOARDS

I developed three different themes for the animation. I knew I wanted to create a sense of happiness when people view the video reminiscing on fond memories. Especially after the past year, everyone had to deal with being isolated from COVID-19.

STYLEFRAMES

FIRST APPROACH

I designed this animation fully in illustrator and after-effects. After I finished this animation I realized there was something off. I wanted my animation to feel warm and relatable. This felt cold and out of place.

REIMAGINING

So after discussing it with my client we decided to switch the style from vector to physical. We thought it would be best to give this animation a human touch. What better way to do that than adding human hands interacting with the objects in the animation!

PROCESS

Since I was going a paper route with this project I pulled out different colored cardstock as well as my Cricut cutter. I designed the templates on illustrator and brought them into the Cricut design space to cut them. I then assembled the pieces by hand before starting my revised animation.

FINAL

The final animation for this project.

IN CONTEXT

I placed my animation into the Facebook feed to show what it would look like to someone scrolling through. I did two versions, one on desktop, and one on mobile.
